Hello to our International Snowshoe Friends!

GREAT NEWS!! Please check out the link below to read information about an exciting new event taking place in Western Canada next February 2010. The World Snowshoe Invitational! The day before the 2010 Winter Olympics Closing Cermonies just miles from where all the Olympic action is taking place. There will be a huge turnout of international media. We are trying to pull together a significant prize purse to encourage our international snowshoe friends and athletes to travel to Western Canada to take part in this historic event. This event will be a critical step in the long process that we have undertaken to gain inclusion in the Winter Olympic Program. The World's sports media will focus on our Sport, perhaps for the first time. So, this is very important to us.

ESG Qualifier Race dates have now been posted Here

Empire State Winter Games

February  19-21, 2010

Major Change in how you register for the ESGs

Once athletes have qualified or have been named to your qualifying list/rosters, they must go to the ESG registration page to register and pay the entry fee to confirm their intention to participate in the Games in Lake Placid.  More details are available on the website ‘Have You Qualified for the Games?’ webpage, which can be accessed from the Winter Games home page (www.empirestategames.org/winter).

When we receive the qualified athlete list from ESSRA it be will posted as a ‘preliminary’ roster on the website.  As athletes register, the state will periodically update the rosters to reflect those that have completed their online registration.

After the registration deadline of February 17, 11pm, we will then post ‘final’ rosters on the website.  These ‘Final’ rosters will list all qualified athletes who have registered online for the Games.  Final rosters will be posted by 10am on Thursday, February 18.  Qualified athletes who do not register online by 11pm on 2/17 will be removed from the preliminary list and will not be permitted to participate in the Games.

20 in '10: USSSA PowerSox Championship Qualifying Season

December 07, 2009
by Phillip Gary Smith

As in Poltergiest, the Movie: "They're Hereeeee." Not aliens in our winter movie, instead bundled athletes finally racing snowshoe qualifiers throughout the  five USSSA regions, securing a slot to race the National Championship. Here's the scoop you need:

The 2010 USSSA Nationals promise to be the biggest and the best . . . and the most historic! Just think back . . . those who raced the very first National Snowshoe Championship way back in February, 2001, Plattsburgh, NY, pre 9/11, weren't thinking about ten years from then. All 24 of them with another 7 Juniors entered were focused on one hour or so in the future, the time to finish the 10km.
