Empire State Winter Games February 19-21, 2010 Photos of all the ESG races can be seen on Item of Interest for the Snowshoe Community The New York State Adirondack Folk School is looking for someone who might be interested in teaching a class later this fall or early winter on making traditional wooden snowshoes. Ideally the candidate: a.) has made these types of snowshoes in the past, b.) has had some teaching experience - teaching adults, and c.) understands the concept of a folk school - folks come to learn not for credit, but to have fun and most often are total beginners - little or no experience with hand tools - we like to stay away from power tools for these beginners. As for the class - we would hope that it could be done in one - two days, maximum of three. It doesn't have to be all in a row - three consecutive Saturdays for example. Compensation will be discussed with the potential instructors. Materials fees are billed to the students and paid directly to the instructors. The folk school collects the tuition fees. Classes would be offered at the Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne, NY - approximately 1 hour north of Albany.
