Qualifying Information:
Note
: Areas of NY State that receive little or no reliable snow cover are still eligible to conduct, compete in and complete ESG Snowshoe Qualifiers, thereby providing their region's athletes with the opportunity to become eligible to compete at the ESG Championships.

1.  Sprint Events and 1500m:  To qualify for the Sprint Events an athlete must complete at least two (2) ESG Nordic Sprint Qualifiers (100m, 200m, 400m) one (1) of which must be on snow- weather permitting. The athlete must complete all three (3) sprints at each qualifier and/or the 1500m. Click here for a schedule of qualifying athletes (to be posted after Feb. 10).  Note: qualifiers for the 1500m must complete two 1500m qualifying races.

At the conclusion of the qualifying period, qualifier results are compiled by the State Snowshoe Coordinator. Each athlete's best 100m, 200m, 400m sprint and/or 1500m times, from throughout the season, are added to produce a "Cumulative Time." Within each age group, the top twenty (20) individuals are ranked by their Cumulative Time. These top twenty (20) are then invited to attend the ESG Snowshoe Championships in February in Lake Placid, NY.
